Camarillo-- It was a dog paradise at Ventura County Animal Services, January 29-30, as the location had a special promotion aimed at uniting furry Doggies with loving owners.
DOGS placed under the care of Ventura County Animal Services in 2021 had their adoption fee waived so qualified applicants could take their new best friend home.
Attendees made appointments due to Covid-19 restrictions and marveled at all the dogs who were happy to see the hoomans.
Deputy Director Donna Gillesby said the dogs that came in during 2021 have been at the facility for a while.
“We really want them to go and find their furrever homes,” she said. “It’s hard right now because we are not open to casual walkthroughs at the shelter, so it’s a little harder for them to get to be seen.”
While the animals are at the shelter, she said the staff and volunteers do a great job caring for the furry friends.
“They have a warm, dry safe environment,” she said. “We have heaters, blankets, and beds, and they get daily enrichment. We have frozen treats, Kongs, and special things to keep them emotionally, physically, and mentally stable while they’re here. It’s not where…
