APCB approves Clean Air Fund equipment grant

Ventura-- The Air Pollution Control Board, Tuesday, September 13, approved a grant from the Clean Air Fund to replace outdated landscaping equipment that pollutes the environment.

Supervising Air Quality Engineer Tyler Harris presented the item to the board, and he said the Clean Air Fund approved a grant to assist the City of Port Hueneme with the costs of replacing some of their combustion landscaping equipment with zero-emission clean equipment.

“The Advisory Committee decided to fund only a part of the funding requested and settled on awarding $5,850 to cover the cost of six pieces of battery-operated equipment, eight batteries, and four chargers,” he said. “The grant agreement requires the city to destroy and recycle the existing combustion equipment that will be replaced by the funded equipment.”

He said the District staff will confirm that the rent requirements are being met, and the City of Port Hueneme is required to present an annual report on the performance of the equipment according to the five-year grant term.
