Oxnard— The Oxnard City Council, on Tuesday, December 16, passed an agreement with Axon International.

The agreement will not exceed $3.741 million over five years for body-worn cameras less lethal worn equipment, plus services and subscriptions.

Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran spoke with Police Chief Jason Benites about two of the items, and he asked if the Commander would speak about the items they’re purchasing, in addition to the software agreement.

Commander Cody Collette said the Police will wear body-worn cameras, which also includes the subscription base for evidence.com.

“Officers will be able to use their cellar telephones to take evidence at the scene, and take video, he said “Another item is the taser 10 CEW, which stands for a Conducted Energy Device, which is a less lethal option.

With that, he said, is a less-lethal option for the taser CEW.

“We have six interview rooms, and have they been equipped with audio and video,” he said. “We can record lengthy interviews and upload them into evidence.”

“The subscription can be remotely reviewed in real-time, and he said, so members of the District Attorney’s Office can view those in real-time, so we have thorough interviews with victims, he said.…
