Port Hueneme--The sun shined, and crowds jammed the Port of Hueneme Saturday, September 24, as the Banana Festival returned from Covid and was a celebration of fun, that left everyone smiling.
THE Festival featured tours of the Port of Hueneme, bands, a kid’s zone with activities, live bands at the World Music
Stage, plenty of great food, and shopping for everyone.
Vendors came out in full force, including the Chiquita Banana Tent, where John Guzman, who does equipment maintenance for the company, had a blast getting lots of bananas ready for all the attendees.
“We’re having a great day seeing all these people come in with smiles on their faces; it’s amazing,” he said. “I’m the one who makes sure that bananas are always moving.”
He said they brought a pallet of bananas, which is about 10,000 bananas.
“It’s a lot, and we’ve got plenty to go,” he said. “We have our volunteers and crew here who are also part of the Chiquita family. We have dispatchers and maintenance and quality control here having fun.”
