Bubbling Springs Park on track

Port Hueneme—Before its August break, the City Council received an update on the Bubbling Springs Park project and was treated to projected renderings of the completed park.

Housing and Facilities Director Gabby Basua presented the update and said the budget was $11.486 million, of which $3.3 million has been completed. The project has a $1.111 million contingency.

“We have spent $33,000 (contingency funds) from this account,” she said.

The demolition and grading at the park has been completed, she said, and the building footings are in place.

“The CMU (walls and brick walls) installation is ongoing, and the irrigation and electricity is 90 percent complete,” she said. “Our sidewalk installation has started; it’s at the south end of the park, so you’ll see construction starting by the Community Center.”

She said Southern California Gas has been challenging, but utilities are about 80 percent completed.

 
 

“As of right now, we’re still right on track, and that can change at any moment,” Basua said. “If that does, we’ll make sure our City Manager (James Vega) gives you that information. As of right now, we’re expected to open the park in late March.”
