Campus Park update praised

Oxnard-- The Campus Park design update continues with details about the new park.

The revitalized Campus Park is scheduled to be ready by March 2024 and is possible because of an $8.5 million Proposition 68 grant for the design and park construction.

MIG Senior Landscape Product Architect Wendy Chan told the Council that a new restroom and reconstructed parking lot will be south of the building near Fifth Street.

“The Recreation Corps has been located to take advantage of the adjacency to the park center and the existing sports court, but it’s also situated away from the quieter areas of Campus Park,” she said. “A restroom, picnic area, and multipurpose lawn are adjacent to the Recreation Corps. A viewing berm wraps around the north and west skate park and pump track to not only provide a buffer from neighboring uses but provide a fun place to gather and watch the skaters.”

To the west, she said there is an airport viewing mound which will be a place for kids and adults to get a higher vantage point to watch the planes land.
