Capital Improvement Plan approved

Ventura—The City Council, on Tuesday, March 24, adopted its 2030- 2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

Public Works Director Charlie Ebling, Interim Public Works Director and City Engineer Jeff Hereford, and Public Works Senior Management Analyst Sharon Gant spoke, and Ebling said that in the crowd are Department Heads and Division Managers available to speak about specific CIP projects if you have any questions.

Ebling said the CIP must be adopted, as required by the City Charter.

“Since the study session in 2026, project information sheets have been provided, and if the Council directs, the projects listed may be added to the CIP Project List, and potential grant list,” he said. “During the CIP study session, we requested funding for the Main Street Beautification Program. The Community Development Director will be presenting this as part of the Main Street Moves Vision Plan, later this evening.”

If the Council directs, he said, the Council will return on April 14 to amend the CIP.

“There are 18 new projects before the Council, and the bulk of the projects are water and wastewater,” he said. “The recommendations in the proposed 2027-2031 Capital Improvement Program are to support all City Council strategic priorities.”
