City Council meetings to reopen next month

Oxnard-- In his Tuesday, March 29 report to the city council, City Manager Alex Nguyen said he hoped his report would be the final Covid-19 update for the rest of his life.

He noted that even though the Covid-19 numbers in the city, county, state, and country have significantly improved, the pandemic has not been declared at its end.

“The Omicron sub-variant, BA2, they’re tracking that in other parts of the globe, so we don’t know what our status will be in the near future,” he said.

California is rescinding its various orders, he said, and it is coming out of the State of Emergency.

“My understanding is the state is not canceling the State of Emergency yet,” he said. “There are various orders they are lifting, 18, effective March 31, and another 15 that they are lifting but will not expire until June 30. That information, in detail, is available on the state’s website.”

Nguyen said that the council chambers would be open to the public once again in April, and the public can attend the meetings.
