Oxnard-- In his report to the city council on May 3, Alex Nguyen said there is a lingering pandemic, and over a 14-day period, the cases are slowly inching back up.
“We’re seeing that among city staff as well,” he said. “We communicated that to city staff as one of them tested positive. Based on his description of the symptoms, one doesn’t need to be hospitalized, but they sound pretty bad to me, certainly worse than a typical flu. This is a gentle reminder to people to continue to be cautious in certain situations when you’re indoors.”
After two years, Nguyen said the city ended its deferral of late fees for utilities.
“We’ll begin again on June 30,” he said. “We’re providing ample notice, as required to our customers. There’s information across various media as well as in the utility bills. This is a reminder. Starting June 30, late payments will have late fees assessed.”
He said after the city submitted its housing element to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), along with other cities in the state, they reviewed it and provided comments back to the city.
