Port Hueneme--The City Council canceled the Request for Proposals (RFP) for Hueneme Beach Festival Event Planning and Management Services and awarded no contract during its Tuesday, April 2, meeting.
The Council also approved using an employee committee to plan and manage the 2024 Hueneme Beach Festival and authorized a $25,000 donation to the Port Hueneme Police Explorers to provide services associated with executing the 2024 Festival.
Deputy City Manager Charles Peretz presented the item and said on September 5, 2023, the Council approved a list of topics appropriate for the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to review, including a list of City-sponsored events.
“Consistent with that direction, at their October 9 and November 13 meetings, the CAC reviewed the summary of the 2023 Festival and offered recommendations pertaining to the conduct of the 2024 event,” he said. “On December 18, along with the summary of the Citizen Advisory Committee’s recommendation, was presented to the Council to provide specific feedback to be used in the planning of the 2024 event and authorize staff to analyze in-house management options and issue a request for proposals as a contingency plan.”
