Port Hueneme —The concert season is off and running at VFW 3935 as the Swing Shifts rocked the Post.

Port Hueneme —The concert season is off and running at VFW 3935 as the Swing Shifts rocked the Post.

The Band delivered classic rock and blues as people danced, enjoyed libations and snacks, and reveled in the Post’s Family.

Bernie Espinoza has led the Band for 34 years and has been playing music for about 60 years.”

“My Mom, Frances, influenced me,” he said. “I learned harmony when she sang. My oldest Sister, Andrea, played the accordion, and I learned the Harmonica.

Post-Commander Tom Fiala said the Band is one of the most popular groups to play at Port Hueneme VFW.

“They’re a lot of fun,” he said. “This is our third year bringing music to the Post. I had to solicit them a couple of years ago, and now we have such a great relationship with these bands, they call me now.”

He said they plan to be more selective this year, but 70’s and 80’s rock and blues do very well.

“We have a lot of that,” he said. “We found a couple of bluesy bands last year and Countryish. One Band, “The Blue Moon Boys,” sing Elvis Songs, Blues Brothers style. They have the outfits and…
