Corrective Action update moves forward

Oxnard-- The Finance & Governance Committee received an update about the corrective action plan to close the City’s past audit findings Tuesday, March 28.

Senior Manager of Internal Controls Jennifer Hiraoka presented the item and said the last corrective plan update occurred in November 2022, and the City remains committed to providing corrective action plan updates semi-annually.

“Today, the only definitions applying to the Corrective Action Plan are to the current unresolved, completed, and in progress,” she said.

During the last update, she said three unique unresolved findings were moved to in progress.

“In January 2023, during the single audit, one audit finding was cleared,” she said. “Eadie+Payne reviewed the CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) HUD finding and determined the City sufficiently completed the Corrective Action Plan for the finding, leaving only two prior findings, the Indirect Cost Allocation finding and the IT (Information Technology) General Controls findings, that are in progress. Both of these items remained in progress during the Single Audit.”

She said the Fiscal Year 2022 Audit resulted in no new findings, the third straight year where no material weaknesses were identified.

Hiraoka said the total unique findings remain at 159, and two findings remain in progress.
