Oxnard—The City Council unanimously approved its five-year 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) during its Tuesday, June 4, meeting.
Council Member Gabriela Basua motioned the South Oxnard Library to Priority One on category list four, which Council Member Arthur Valenzuela seconded.
Basua offered City Staff direction to have the Public Works Department bring back direction and offer a cost amount for the Oxnard Police Departments and other areas would look like, coined the OPD Vision Quest.
Council Member Gabe Teran motioned after giving direction for Category Four and was comfortable with the projects and category list the Public Works Department has put forward and asked for the balance of recommendations made by the Staff.
The fiscal year 2025-2029 CIP Overview, presented by City Engineer Morgan Kessler, approves existing carryover CIP projects for Category 1 Projects and reaffirms the CIP projects in Category 2.
“Approve the project prioritization list outlined in the staff report and adopt the 2025-2029 City of Oxnard Five-Year CIP and direct the Staff to finalize the 2025-2029 CIP and general fund, Measure O amounts for Category 4 Projects,” he said. “Once the City’s 2024- 2025 operating budget is completed, as approved, the CIP Funding allows.”
