Oxnard-- The City held a special council meeting, Monday, December 6. After a closed session, City Attorney Stephen Fischer reported that the body voted 4-0 to give its legal counsel approval to seek review or relief regarding the court of appeals affirming the trial court denial of the city’s motion for preliminary injunction in the action, City of Oxnard versus County of Ventura et all.
This action concerns the provision of ambulance transport services in the city.
The council then received a report from the California Citizen’s Redistricting Committee, and Chief Assistant City Attorney Ken Rozell said Jose Eduardo Chavez would give the presentation on the state redistricting process.
Chavez said his presentation would center on how the City of Oxnard can participate in the redistricting process.
He told the council about all the direct channels where they can submit comments about redistricting.
“As we are speaking, commissioners are discussing the last touches for assembly districts in California that will be used for the next 10 years,” he said. “As we are approaching the final stages of finalizing the maps, one of the greatest powers that Californians have is to elect their own representative in government to represent their needs.”
