County adding staff

Ventura-- In comments to the Air Pollution Control Board (APCB) Tuesday, December i3, Executive Director Ali Reza Ghasemi said they are currently interviewing for an air quality specialist in enforcement.

He said they received 14 candidates and are interviewing the first three candidates.

“The recruitment for Supervising Air Quality Engineering and Planning Division was opened last week,” he said. “The first review of the application is scheduled for January 6. We are continuing to work with the County HR on recruitments for Monitoring Managers, Air Quality Specialists, and Air Quality Engineer positions.”

He told the Board that the Ventura County Transportation Commission awarded the Port of Hueneme $10.4 million for congestion mitigation and air quality, referred to as CMAC grant funding Friday, December 2.

“This CMAC funding will greatly reduce air pollution in Ventura County and will be used on the Port’s North Terminal Shore power projects,” he said. There was a press conference on December 5, and the staff participated.

They also approved a 30-day extension on remote teleconference meetings.

The Board honored its outgoing Board members, and Ghasemi commented that he’d been honored to work with them since he started working with the ACPCD in 2018.
