Ventura-- The Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board approved a standard agreement with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for Refrigerant Management Program (RMP) Inspections at facilities using refrigerants with high global warming potential during its Tuesday, February 13 meeting.
The contract has a $20,100 value and runs through February 28, 2025.
The Board’s actions authorize the Air Pollution Control Officer (APCO) to sign the standard agreement and allow the APCO to sign 1 Future Renewal Agreement with CARB for RMP Inspections and authorize the APCO to make any necessary minor administrative changes to the standard agreement.
Enforcement Manager Keith Macias said the contract renewal will reduce greenhouse gasses starting on March 1, right after training.
“This is a renewal of that program and also includes the hydrofluorocarbon in stationary refrigeration and foam end uses,” he said. “This is basically another program related to our refrigerant management program, but it’s also directed at reducing hydrofluorocarbons specifically.”
He said the deal stems from Senate Bill 1383, which requires a 40 percent greenhouse gas reduction from 2013 levels by 2030.
These are both designed to reduce high-potential greenhouse gasses,” Macias said. “The contract, once it’s signed, we’ll be able to have our…
