Cowboys returning to Oxnard

Oxnard—The City Council unani­mously approved Blue Star Operations Services (BSOS) Agreement A-8587, which means the Dallas Cowboys are coming to Oxnard through 2030.

The City’s responsibilities include providing public safety services, overseeing parking responsibilities, managing volunteers, and coordinating food vendors.

The Cowboys will secure permits and licenses, maintain the field during training camp, and provide private security and custodial services in the locker room.

Project Manager Samantha Shapiro presented the agreement and said the Cowboys have been coming to Oxnard since 2001.

“The Cowboys have hosted 19 training camps at the River Ridge Training Fields,” she said. “The training camp provides a free opportunity to watch their team practice before the season.”

The training site hosted 2,400 attendees over 17 camp days, and she noted that this includes a weekend scrimmage with the Los Angeles Rams.

“There will be a free Cowboys cheerleading camp for the youth hosted each year,” she said. “The existing agreement was executed in April 2023 for three years and expires in August 2025.”

She said the Cowboys, in partnership with the City, provide economic activity through Sales Tax Revenue and overnight stays at local hotels and short-term rentals.
