Cultural and Community Services focus on kids

Oxnard-- It’s been an amazing summer full of kids’ programming, while Cultural and Community Services Director Terrel Harrison said the best is yet to come.

UPCOMING programs include the City’s Meet Up Clean Up program, its food distribution programming, and fall sports, listed on the City’s website.

Harrison said Oxnard is hosting the Dallas Cowboys again, which is always a fan favorite, and the Lakers Foundation is putting on a camp for deserving kids in the City.

“We’re doing summer lunch programs through the community at Southwinds, La Colonia, and Powell,” he said. “The National PAL (Police Athletic League) President Chris Hill just visited, and he presented his book, Lessons from the Road, to our youth.”

Harrison said this year’s backpack giveaway will take place at the PAL locations on K Street and Southwinds Park, and Kids will start their studies in the fall with fresh supplies.

 

“We’re probably going to be giving away about 500-600 backpacks, and it’s probably going to be a whole school resource fair,” he said. “The backpacks are coming from Oxnard PAL’s non-profit.”
