District One Candidates debate issues

Oxnard-- The political season reached full stride Tuesday, October 4, as District One candidates Eduardo Huerta, Doug Partello, and incumbent Bert Perello shared their visions for the district and swapped a few barbs along the way.

The event was hosted by the League of Women Voters of Ventura County.

The trio shared their thoughts on the alleyways, the harbor, the infrastructure of the Teal Club Project, the sea walls, and more. 

Incumbent Bert Perello led off the Forum and said over the course of his current term, he had a front and center seat to the problems Oxnard faced and had a hand in the decisions to overcome the train wreck it had become.

"The train wreck exposed by the audit and in the investigation by the District Attorney and the FBI," he said. "The problems created by years of executive mismanagement and leadership unwilling to make hard choices and tell the public the truth about matters of extreme importance, the infrastructure, financial condition, extreme deferred maintenance, and dwindling reserves."
