Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, during its Tuesday, Jan. 14 meeting, considered a lease and license agreement for Oxnard Drainage District #1.
The agreement is for five years, with an additional five-year extension.
Wastewater Division Manager Jan Hauser presented the agreement and said Oxnard originally entered into the agreement in 1968 as it developed its west side with the Oxnard Drainage District to use existing ditches owned by the District to service newly developed areas inside the City.
“The original agreement was updated in 1980 and amended in 1986 to develop Mandalay Bay,” he said. “The agreement’s responsibilities include the City maintaining the ditches identified on Doris Avenue and Fifth Street. The District provides oversight and any approval of major projects within the ditch.”
He said the agreement expired in 2018, and both parties agreed to negotiate a new contract while adhering to the expired agreement.
“The new simplified agreement, but it maintains the agreement’s simplified agreement and continues to maintain the Doris and Fifth Street drains,” Hauser said. “The new agreement can be extended in five-year increments.”
