Oxnard—During his Tuesday, May 19, City Council Meeting, the Body honored Marisue Eastlake for over 20 years of service to the City of Oxnard.
Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran read the proclamation, and he said Marisue was promoted to Recreation Supervisor, where she assumed comprehensive responsibility for Senior Services Programming, including Senior Centers, the retired Seniors, and Seniors in Motion.
“Marisue has exemplified an unwavering commitment to public service and will be deeply missed by her colleagues and volunteers for her dedication and enduring impact,” he said. “The City Council of the City of Oxnard resolves to commend and extend its gratitude to Marisue Eastlake for 20 years of exemplary service to the City of Oxnard and extends its best wishes for a fulfilling retirement with family and friends.”
Eastlake says when people talk about her, people miss how weird she is.
“I have weird ideas that somehow just work,” she said. “Who knew they could have something with arm exercises and leg exercises, and now they have 20 classes of Seniors exercising,” she said. “We got a grant that we could do with Tai Chi, and that’s grown to 20 classes as well.”
