Oxnard—Family members honored loved ones who passed on Saturday, October 12, at Heritage Square as the El Panteón Fest was a day packed with joyful remembrance and honor by residents.
THE event featured Danzantes, Live Music, a Theatrical Play and Desfilada procession, Face painting, a Catrin and Catrina contest, plus Food and Retail Vendors.
Edith Chavez from Luxury Beauty Pro had her entire team ready to entertain the crowd. She said they wore a Catrina to make the day memorable and said her dress took about a month to complete.
“ We ’r e showing the culture of the Catrina and the outfits,” she said. “I’m a professional cosmetologist, so we showcase what we do.”
She came to a mutual agreement with Heritage Square, and she wanted to be part of the day.
“They’re having an amazing event,” she said. “This is a day to remember the ones who are not here anymore. This honors them and have them in our minds that they still live in our hearts.”
