Oxnard--The City Council, Tuesday, February 7, held a discussion regarding adjusting expectations because of economic and social circumstances.
The discussion focused on supply chain disruptions in Oxnard, along with inflation and labor shortages.
“We need to have a discussion about why we need to shift gears to have the correct pace,” City Manager Alex Nguyen said. “We also need to have a discussion about modifying the American Rescue Plan.”
He proposed extending the City Council’s priorities from five to seven years and changing the City’s restoration budget from three to five years.
“Not having enough money isn’t our primary obstacle which is an interesting and new problem for the City of Oxnard to have,” he said.
The City has been doing a lot, he said, including the Green Team, which received 13,234 reports of illegal dumping, collected 2,141 tons of trash, and cleared 766 homeless encampments.
“We’re not suggesting that we come to a screeching halt, we have to make some adjustments and modifications, but we will continue our work,” he said.
Nguyen called the Green Team’s effort good and bad news because it’s bad news they have to utilize the team to solve the illegal dumping problem.
