Oxnard—The Third Annual Fall Festival at Plaza Park, Saturday, October 19, was a potpourri of classic kids’ fun and carnival games, a kids’ costume contest, a pie-eating contest, plus kids’ arts and crafts.
THIS year’s Fall Festival introduced a pet costume contest featuring live music from Caught Red Handed, dancing, plus plenty of vendors selling memorables.
Recreation Supervisor Marisue Eastlake said the Event features a new Touch-A-Truck interactive event for kids, where they can sit inside a school bus, garbage truck, or Police Vehicle.
“We added a City Department pumpkin carving contest, and there are 10 pumpkins in front of the main stage the judges will vote on,” she said. “Whichever Department wins has the trophy until next year.”
She said planning the Fall Festival started six months ago and noted that the entire team makes the Festival special.
“About 15 of us have been meeting once a week for quite a long time, once a week for the last three months,” she said. “There is a core crew that does the Festival planning; Yolanda takes care of our vendors, and Adriana takes care of our Festival sponsors.”
