Haunt in the Park scary kid treat

Oxnard—Area Ghosts and Goblins descended upon Plaza Park on Saturday, October 26, as Downtown Oxnard’s 10th Haunt in the Park meant “fangtastic” fun for everyone.

THE event brought out monsters and more dressed in their best costumes, and the enormous crowd enjoyed trick-or-treating with delicious candy from local businesses and a chance to win awesome prizes.

“It’s a lot of fun for kids and families, and they’re the entertainment,” Downtown Oxnard Executive Director Abel Magana said. The kids are here in their super-creative costumes, and towards the end of the evening, the highlight is the costume show from the little kids in strollers to the big kids and families.”

He said about 14 booths came to Plaza Park as community organizations did their thing.

“We’re grateful to them,” he said.

Planning the Haunt in the Park begins months in advance, and he said things accelerate as the Haunt approaches.

 

“Our sponsors, the Port of Hueneme, Centennial Plaza, LiUna Labor Union, and Downtown Tattoo make the event special,” he said.

Magana said he might break out a costume as the night progresses, which could mean an evil Ghost or Ghoul.
