Homeless Dashboard promotes real-time updates

Ventura--The Board of Supervisors Homeless Solutions Plan continues, with LeSar Development Consultants’ plan to make data-driven decisions, including recommendations for improving homeless management information.

THE Board, Tuesday, Feb. 27, voted to authorize adding two regular full-time positions to the County Executive Office, three regular full-time positions to the Human Services Agency, and 10 fixed-term, full-time positions to the Sheriff’s Office to support the effort to end homelessness in Ventura County.

Christy Madden from the County Executives Office said Ventura County’s current system for using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is not user-friendly.

“It’s difficult for our nonprofit providers to enter data into the system, and it’s difficult for us to get data out of the system,” she said. “The vendor has shifted their focus; they’re now primarily hospital-based, and they were not getting the kind of service that we need for the HMIS System so that we can access data.”

 

She said they want to get a new vendor specifically focused on dealing with homelessness so they can develop a dashboard for the public to see how the system is performing regularly.
