Oxnard—The City Council will be updated on efforts to reduce homelessness in the city on Tuesday, October 6.
HOUSING Director Brenda Lopez updated the Council, saying addressing homelessness is a complex and evolving challenge confronting communities across the nation.
“Overview of the collective efforts underway across Ventura County, which demonstrate the value and necessity of collaboration and the shared responsibility to residents,” she said.
“Participating agencies include: Mercy House, the City of Ventura, Ventura County Health Care Agency Whole Person Care, and the City of Thousand Oaks.”
She said they will highlight the important role each participating agency plays in serving individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, as well as key initiatives, milestones, and accomplishments.
“The Ventura County Continuum of Care coordinator coordinates with local Cities to conduct a point-in-time count,” she said. “Oxnard experienced a 10.3 percent reduction in homelessness in 2024, a 15.3 percent reduction in 2025, and a 16.1 percent reduction in 2026.”
