Insect Festival this Saturday

Oxnard—In his Tuesday, June 3, report to the City Council, City Manager Alex Nguyen said the Fifth Annual Insect Festival is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Plaza Park.

“This is a free family event from our fabulous Recreation and Community Services Department,” he said. “This year, the special guests, in addition to the insects, the special guests are the crustaceans, more good things to eat.”

July 4 is coming, and warnings about fireworks being illegal are posted on all the City’s social media channels.

“Fireworks are not legal in Oxnard,” he said. “Possession, sales, or use may subject property owners or tenants to arrest and fines up to $1,000 per property. Do not call 911 unless a crime is taking place. The Fireworks Officer’s cell phone is 805-307-6308. If a location has repeated offenses, email fireworks@oxnardpd.org. The hotline is 805-393-5884, or call the non-emergency dispatch line, 385-7740.”

Oxnard Police Department Investigative Services Bureau Commander Cody Colette stated that June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month.

“I have members of our Family Protective Bureau, Corporal Jacob Jundiff, and Professional Staff Judy Bosco Gillson with me,” he said.
