Port Hueneme—Kids of all ages had an absolute blast on Saturday, November 23, at the Orvenve Carpenter Community Center, as everyone made wreaths for Christmas.
THE group made large ones for the front door, or made small ones for the tree, and they decorated them with ribbons and bows.
Event Organizer Pamela Jo greeted the crowd warmly and said the City of Port Hueneme supports the craft class.
“We normally do this at the Museum, but we don’t have the room,” she said. “Whatever you do is fine today, and you cannot fail.”
She showed some samples and told the kids to wrap their wreaths with cover wire.
“I only have so many sticks, and you can make one or three wreaths,” she said. “I brought a lot of stuff from my own crafts that I brought to help you.”
Step one, she said, was to unwrap the twigs. First, untie them, and then start making your circles,” she said. “The greenery is cool, and you can cut it to make anything you’d want.”
