Lobbyist agreement benefits Oxnard greatly

Oxnard--The Finance & Governance Committee, Tuesday, February 13, approved Federal and State of California Lobbyist agreements with MMO Partners and Arnold & Associates.

The total annual increase, compared to prior agreements, is $16,200, with $4,200 for MMO Partners and $12,000 for Arnold & Associates.

The City of Oxnard requires well-managed and financially sound legislative advocates with demonstrated skills, technical ability, and high levels of customer service and responsiveness.

Adam Smith, a project manager in City Manager Alex Nguyen’s office, presented the agreements and said the deal authorizes Mayor John Zaragoza to execute the agreement with Michael J. Arnold for State of California lobbying professional services.

On December 6, 2023, Smith said the City’s purchasing division released two requests for proposals (RFP) for advocacy and lobbying services at the State of California and federal levels with a January 8, 2024, due date.

The City’s current federal lobbyist contract with HROD Inc. John R. O’Donnell (MMO Partners) and State Lobbyist contract with Michael J. Arnold (Arnold and Associates) expired Saturday, January 13, 2024.
