Ventura—The City Council, during its Tuesday, November 19, meeting, heard a progress update on its 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 goals.
The Council retired, completing the Fire Services initiative within the 2023-2024 calendar year and its 2022-2023 goal to protect and restore Ventura’s Coastline.
Assistant City Manager Carlene Saxton presented the update and said the Council recommended it transfer its annual goal setting from a 1-to-2-year cycle starting in January 2025 and retain an annual action item process to refine goal implementation tasks and resource allocation as part of the budget process.
She noted that the Staff made progress on the City’s environmental sustainability and plans in January 2025 for the City Council, which will be maintained within the Public Works Department.
“We’ll review and make recommendations for the homelessness efforts, and we’ve made some progress,” she said. “We’ve added reports from the Patrol Task Force, the Beautification Team, and we’re reporting that to our Housing and Homelessness Subcommittee.”
She meets with the Housing and Homelessness Division Subgroup monthly to ensure its tasks align with the Council’s goals.
