Governor Gavin Newsom has nominated Ventura County Superior Court Judge Tari Cody to the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Six.
Cody, 63, has served as a judge since 2000. She was previously a partner at Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton from 1985 to 1994 and later an associate at Lemieux & O’Neill from 1994 to 2000, where she specialized in municipal law, representing governmental agencies and water districts in contract, employment and business matters.
Cody was appointed to the Ventura Superior Court bench by Gov. Gray Davis in 2000. She currently serves as supervising judge of the Court’s juvenile division and hears dependency, adoptions and guardianship matters. Cody, who resides in Ventura County with her family, has been involved in civic organizations throughout her career.
She has served as a board member of the Coalition to End Family Violence, Planned Parenthood, the Ventura County Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Ventura County.
In 2016, she began serving on the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee and the Small Court Dependency Workload Working Group.
