Oxnard--The City Council approved $28,000 for annual report pricing, $952,000 in one-time funding for radio infrastructure, and budget appropriations totaling $980,720 for the two aforementioned projects from the Measure O Fund Balance and corresponding Capital Outlay Fund transferred in and appropriations related to the Radio Infrastructure Project during the Tuesday, Feb. 20 meeting.

The council also approved a scope expansion for the existing Safe Families Project.

Project Manager Annie Jensen said one of the statutory requirements of Measure O funding is that the Staff create an annual written report that is required to be mailed to all city households, which has a substantial printing cost covered by the general fund.

“As this cost is required by Measure O, the Staff proposes that Measure O funds it for the remainder of the life of the sales tax,” she said. “This would be eight years of printing at $28,000 per year for a total of $224,000.”

She said the second proposed new project, police department radio infrastructure, has the department experiencing an increase in the number of locations where their radios don’t transmit effectively, known as dead spots.
