Oxnard-- The Meet Up Clean Up team went back to work making Oxnard a better place Saturday, March 19, as Community Center Park East got a big cleanup.
THE effort was made possible by the City of Oxnard, the Oxnard PAL, and City Corps, along with many volunteers.
Recreation Coordinator Esteban Melchor helped guide students from the Hueneme Elementary School System and kept them focused.
“We invited three of our school sites, so we have Williams, Sunkist, and Bard elementary schools,” he said. “This is actually the first event where we are able to invite our students because of Covid. Normally, before Covid, we would have a lot of community service projects or community involvement projects for our students. We’re super excited that they’re here, and they’re excited that they’re here.”
He came armed with a plan to make sure there were different activities for the kids throughout the day.
