Michael Nye gets rewarded

Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, May 12, recognized Michael Nye for his 38 years with the Housing Authority.

Chairman Jeff Gorell said Nye helped expand access to safe, stable, and affordable housing for thousands of individuals and families.

Mark Lund said he saw the vote signs on the way in, and he started to shake.

“I’m here on behalf of the Board of Commissioners. There are 14 of us, and you thought wrangling five was tough,” he said. “I’m here to thank all of you for recognizing Mike Nye.”

When he first met Mike, Lund said he joined the Housing Authority right after he began his service as County Clerk.

“He was the Chief Financial Officer at the time,” Lund said. “A few years later, I ran the recruitment as the Executive Director, he became the Executive Director, and Mike led us for 11 great years.”

Under Nye’s leadership, Lund said, the Housing Agency has been a high-performing agency for 24 consecutive years.
