MODEL RAILROADERS PURSUE PASSION

Oxnard-- Deep inside the Murphy Auto Museum, a dedicated group of people who love model trains get together, sharing their mutual love of locomotives.

THE Gold Coast Modular Railroad Club arrives each Saturday and Sunday and focuses on building the ultimate Train Village.

Club Vice President George Carr said the Club started at the old Murphy location, which he visited before becoming a member and got to see the original track layout that was larger in the Old Murphy.

At the current location, he said they brought the track created with different modules and pieced it together. One of the older pieces is 40 years old.

“I’ve been playing with Trains since I’ve been eight years old,” he said. “My Dad and I used to build a Christmas layout. There was HO Gauge, and when I was eight, my Mom and Dad gave me an O Gauge Train Lionel Train Set. It was set up in the basement.”

 

He built layouts as a teenager, grew up, married, and had kids.
