Oxnard-- A large crowd gathered at Terraza De Las Cortes Saturday, June 11, as the Mental Health Awareness Mural unveiling at the park and Community Resource Fair offered community members valuable resources, plenty of food, and great music.
THE event celebrated and recognized youth from Future Leaders of America, Our Town. Our Children. a social awareness art project credited with an award winning youth mural program (La Colonia Youth Mural Program) and youth from the La Colonia Youth Mural Program. The groups spent about 2,000 hours working on the Mural, and received special recognition from community leaders.
Oxnard City Councilman Oscar Madrigal told the group that getting the Mural done was a long process, and the students did a magnificent job.
“Anyone who gave their time and effort, especially Anna,” Madrigal said. “This started years ago, and it’s a continuing process.”
“Oxnard City Manager Alex Nguyen acknowledged the families of the artists and asked for a round of applause for all their support throughout the effort.
