Chanel Islands — The 2024 Concerts by the Sea kicked off grandly on Saturday, July 6, as Nautical Thrust delivered classic hits from the 1970s and 80s to concertgoers’ delight.
THE large crowd danced the night away to hits from The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Genesis, the Electric Light Orchestra, and many other classics.
Matthew Barisic and his Dog Ripley said he always attends the Concerts by the Sea and was ready for a great show.
“I have a boat right here in the Harbor, on L Dock, and we come out every week during the summer,” he said. “Rip, my friend, brings the girls over to me, and I dance with them.” Although it’s not always his favorite, Matthew loved the reggae band that performed in 2023.
“I hope they come back this year,” he said. “I certainly love music from the 70’s and 80’s. Anything Neil Young plays falls into that category. Hey, Hey, My, My, and Four Strong Winds out of Canada is a beautiful song he’s played. His boat is one over from mine.”
