NEWSOM EXTENDS COVID-19 STATE OF EMERGENCY

Oxnard-- In the Tuesday, November 16 report to the city council, Assistant City Manager Ashley Golden, filling in for City Manager Alex Nguyen, said Governor Newsom extended the Covid-19 State of Emergency until March 31, 2022.

“This extension will allow for the resources in case there are any new surges in Covid-19 cases over the winter,” she said. “Those ages five years old are now eligible for free Covid-19 vaccines. Appointments are recommended, and they can be made at myturn.ca.gov or by calling 833-422-5255. “

She said booster shots are now available for people ages 18 and above.

“There are some criteria if you’ve had the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine,” she said. “You need to have waited six months since your second dose, and if you had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, you need to wait two months for a shot. Those appointments can be made at myturn.ca.gov.”

She said funding is still available to get 100 percent of rent and utilities paid, and residents can apply at HousingIsKey.com or by calling 833-430-2122.
