Oxnard—The Ormond Beach Power Plant story continues with City Manager Alex Nguyen saying that Federal Intervention is possible.
“Under the current administration, they’ve sent clear signals that they don’t want any power plants to close,” he said. “In an article, it was reported that the power plants are to close down, but you can also read between the lines that this can definitely go beyond this.”
He said they don’t know when, how far, or how these sorts of interventions will go.
“I think we’re all aware enough to agree that if they choose to do so, they will,” he said. “If the City Council and State approve this, the power plant will continue operating for a few more years.”
The activity at the Ormond Power Plant has decreased, and he said you can see this as information reported by Genon, which they have to report to the State of California.
In the last five years, Nguyen said the plant’s activity has decreased.He wants to work from the same set of facts and not overblow or underplay their impacts.
