OPD South Precinct approved

Oxnard-The City Council took action to enhance law enforcement across the City Tuesday, May 16, and approved the purchase of 2900 Saviers Road, which will become the future home of the Oxnard Police Department South District.

Housing Director Emilio Ramirez presented the item and said the Police Department has been working to identify a new location for a Precinct Building centrally located in South Oxnard that provides expanded service throughout the City.

“They were looking for a place within the commercial corridor within the South part of the City,” he said. “The Staff identified a location at 2900 Saviers at the Southeast corner of Channel Islands and Saviers Boulevard.”

He said the building is five stories sitting on a parcel of land just over an acre.

“The building was listed for $3.5 million, and the Council approved the Staff to express an offer and negotiate a transaction, which we’ve undertaken,” he said. “The appraisal was delivered to be at $2.7 million. After the final acquisition, we’re presenting it to you for a final acquisition price of $2.33 million.”

Ramirez said they’re proposing to demolish the current building so they can develop a new Police Precinct.
