Oxnard-- The Holiday Season returned to the City of Oxnard, Saturday, December 4, as the Christmas Parade drew a big crowd of residents all in the mood for some Christmas fun.
THERE were fewer parade participants in 2021 due to the county health order and Covid-19 fears, but that didn’t stop attendees and participants from cheering, waving, dancing, and having a joyous time.
Gary Blum said he’s ecstatic to bring the parade back to Oxnard.
“It’s been two years, and it was tough getting entries,” he said. “The parade is definitely smaller this year, but I’m so excited for everyone who could go back in. A lot of youth programs and sports teams aren’t fully recovered from the pandemic, and we had a lot of no’s.”
Blum said pulling the parade together is no easy task.
“We have a whole committee that makes it happen through the Downtown Oxnard Merchant’s Association,” he said. “We have a lot of good partners, the City of Oxnard, the Port of Hueneme, and the Downtown Business Improvement District, so there are people who help make it all happen.”
Mayor John Zaragoza said being in the parade with his wife is an honor.
