OXNARD HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Oxnard-- Basketball season is off and running, as the Oxnard High School Yellowjackets Boys Varsity Basketball team sits at 2-1, as the season kicks into high gear.

THE team features lots of high-energy skill building during practice and is focused, motivated, and determined.

Head Coach Jeff Staniland said the team started the season off with a 58-53 win against San Marcos.

“We definitely have the potential to have another special season and year,” he said. “The culture and expectations that we’ve set in this program, we’re looking to compete and have a great year every year.”

He said the team has five players returning.

“We have five Juniors this year who all played varsity as Sophomores,” he said. “We have some good experience, some highlevel talent, and the expectations are high. We’re looking forward to seeing how this team produces and comes together.”

 

Staniland said the team likes to get up and down the court and play defensively.

“We want to play fast, but we pride ourselves on our defense,” he said. “We’re going to press; we’re going to pick up and influence the tempo. We want to dictate our style of play, so we’re built on defense and…
