Oxnard-- A small but dedicated group of friends and competitors came out to the Wilson Center playing field Sunday, January 8, as the gang held a classic Lawn Bowling competition while having a great time.
The game was full of good fun and a little friendly ribbing, and in the end, the group cleaned up, shook hands, and relished a great Sunday morning.
Steve Goodmanson is part of the group and said anyone can learn the game and have fun right away.
“You have the ‘Jack’ (A while ball), and you play teams,” he said. “You try to throw the Bowl closest to the Jack.”
Steve said the team that gets the Bowl closest to the Jack receives points, which are cumulative.
“It’s a pairs or triples game, and everybody is on the same team,” he said. “We random draw teams, so there is no picking who you play with. It’s all a random draw.”
With that said, the group spent time trying to knock the Bowl closest to the Jack away and take that spot.
