Oxnard—Community Members packed Plaza Park on Monday, November 11, as the City of Oxnard’s Veterans Day Ceremony was a great event that offered its eternal gratitude to the many soldiers who kept and continue to keep the United States safe.
THE day started with a parade and continued at Plaza Park, where Veterans heard moving stories and could access help and resources if needed.
Claims Officer Tyler Miller from Ventura County Veteran’s Services offered information to Vets to see where they’re eligible.
“We assist them in obtaining those benefits,” he said. “We work with them through the normal VA claims process, and they usually bring in records and service documents, and we review their service and see if they’re eligible.”
He said they can help Vets access their DD214 Service Records and will help them request a copy.
“If they have one, it helps us,” he said. “We need their proof of service and Veteran’s eligibility,” he said.

Miller served in the Army as a Combat Medic from 2001-2006 and said he’s driven by helping Soldiers obtain their benefits.
“It’s difficult,” he said. “There’s a wealth of information out there, and it’s hard to parse what applies to them,”…
