Parade of Frights is a Hit

Harbor Parade of Frights, Saturday, October 29, was hugely successful, as a large crowd filled Harbor

Emporium Landing and enjoyed all the spooky decorated boats. The event also included inflatable activities for the kids to enjoy and an educational scavenger hunt at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum.

Harbor Public Information Officer Jed Chernabaeff said there are around 30 parade entries, but he’s anticipating a lot more electric boats showing up to the parade.

“It will be similar to the 4th of July Electric Boat Parade,” he said. “The one ship that has caught my eye is the Mystic Whaler at the Channel Island Arts Museum. This is the first Halloween that the Mystic Cruiser has been here at the Harbor. The crew got in from Santa Barbara yesterday and decorated their ship, getting ready for the big scavenger hunt at the Maritime Museum.”

He said Frank Laza, who owns an electric boat business at the Harbor, along with his wife Gail, was decorating throughout the week and putting a lot of time and love into the event.
