Parking expansion approved for Ventura

Ventura—During its Tuesday, Feb. 11 City Council meeting, Council Members approved ending its agreement with FFP Solar Services on a split vote.

The City included a plan during the meeting, including new pay stations, a permit management system, and the appropriate language, and it is consistent with the specific plan.

Before the latest parking study conducted, Council Member Mangone asked what lots were converted to four hours.

Half of the movie theater lot was converted; it was all day, but it was converted to four hours. The Farmer’s Market was converted to four hours.

The plan will include community outreach; Mangone asked how much DVAO is included.

Council Member Ryyn Schumacher asked for guidance in the standard, and there’s a difference between an occupancy and utilization study. An occupancy rate is finding out which spaces are full each hour. Utilization studies determine turnover.

The City went through the RFP Process on Nov. 19, and the Council approved the study.
