Oxnard—The Tuesday, October 28, Public Works and Transportation Lighting Workshop continues with comments from Ava Schmidt, who also spoke on behalf of her sister Alexis.
“I’m a tennis player who usually plays at Rio Lindo, Sierra Linda, and Wilson Parks,” she said. “There has been a problem with overgrown weeds, broken fences and gates, broken nets, trash on the courts, and dog waste. I believe it’s very important that these facilities we have are maintained before the City considers building more.”
She said the courts are popular in the Northern part of Oxnard, and it would help to disperse the court usage if it had lights,” she said. “Lights also require maintenance, and should be turned off at a certain time each night, not to disturb the surrounding neighborhoods.”
She said Bob Tildy Park in Camarillo is in a residential neighborhood, and they turn on their lights at dusk and turn them off at 9 p.m.
Alexis shared her comment from the East Neighborhood Council, noting that East Village residents have many complaints about soccer players using East Village Park.
