Port Hueneme—The Housing Authority approved the Financing Plan submission for RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration Program) Section 18 Small PHA Blend Conversion during its Monday, July 29 meeting.
The city authorized Housing to proceed with RAD conversion in 2019 and provides necessary updates every six months.
City Manager James Vega said they created a non-profit board to work on the RAD Project about three months ago.
“It’s come back a few times, and this is the next step in the process,” he said. “It’s a little bit of an unexpected step, but I think in a good way.”
After going through the application process, he said HUD sent them a notification recommending they split the project into two.
“We originally applied for both Willowbrook and Mar Vista combined as one project,” he said. “HUD came back and requested that we submit a second project, which would split off the Willowbrook project.”
He said the original Mar Vista application will be in place and processed.
