Port Hueneme-- The City Council approved $385,000 as its match for a grant to improve the Ray D. Prueter Library and submit support letters from the Mayor and Interim City Manager Monday, May 15.
The Ventura County Library is applying for the $2.310 million Building Forward California State Library Grant for Ray D. Prueter Library improvements at the Library, including an expanded Children’s Story Room, costing $200,000, replacing damaged flooring and ceiling tiles, costing $200,000, electrical upgrades and replacing the current lighting with energy-efficient lighting, replacing the security and fire suppression systems and adding security cameras to the building costing $1.1 million.
The agreement will also include $600,000 for designs, permits and $210,000 for contingency costs.
Interim City Manager Tony Stewart presented the item and said he and Council Member Laura D. Hernandez met with the City Librarian and some of the County Library Staff a few weeks ago and discussed offering support for a grant the County Library would apply for improvements at the Ray D. Prueter Library.
The City’s portion of the match is $385,000, and he said after meeting with the Finance Director, the City has the money in the general fund’s assigned fund balance. A…
